If that’s you, I want to say something first: you don’t have to feel confident, or ready, or “the type” to be here. Most of the women who come to us don’t. They come because they’ve been through a lot — motherhood, menopause, a diagnosis, a loss, a big birthday, the slow erosion of a hard few years — and somewhere along the way they stopped recognising themselves. This is a calm, guided way back to that recognition.
So there are no surprises, here’s exactly what a boudoir experience with us looks like, from the very first conversation to the moment you see yourself again.
Who is a boudoir experience actually for?
Not models. Not women who love having their photo taken. It’s for the woman who keeps everyone else going and rarely stops for herself — the one who feels a bit invisible, a bit disconnected from the person she used to be.
We work with women right across South Wales and beyond, from Swansea and the Swansea Valley to Neath, Carmarthen, Cardiff and further afield. They arrive nervous. They leave feeling steady, powerful and, in their own words, “like me again.” This is about celebration and reconnection — never fixing anything, because there’s nothing about you that needs fixing.
What happens before the day?
It always starts with a relaxed chat — we call it a Discovery Call. It’s a real conversation with me (Rhian), not a sales pitch. It’s a chance for us to get to know the real you — what you love, what makes you happy, what makes you you. We’ll also talk through anything you’re wondering about, so the day ahead feels exciting rather than daunting. Nothing is booked or decided under pressure.
Once you’re ready, we plan together. You’ll get a style guide, we’ll talk through wardrobe, and if it helps to have more than one call before the day, we’ll do that too. Some women need a little more time to feel safe, and that’s completely okay.
What should I wear?
Whatever feels most like you. Most women bring their own outfits, because that’s often what feels truest — a favourite dress, an oversized shirt, knitwear, a blazer. Lingerie is entirely optional, and you’re always in control of your level of coverage. We also have a few studio pieces you’re welcome to use, from lace gowns to heels. We’ll help you choose looks that flatter and feel comfortable, so nothing on the day is a guess. (There’s more detail in [our FAQ].)
What actually happens on the day?
You’ll come to our private studio near Swansea, and from the moment you arrive the pace is calm. A drink, a moment to settle, no rushing.
If you’re doing boudoir, Julie will do your hair and make-up — not to turn you into someone else, but so you feel cared for and confident stepping in front of the camera. Then we photograph, and this is the part women worry about most: “I won’t know what to do.”
You won’t have to. The whole experience is guided. I demonstrate each pose and you copy me, so you’re never left standing there wondering what to do with your hands. We go at your pace, we check in constantly, and you can pause any time you like. You can bring your own music. It feels less like a photo shoot and more like a calm afternoon that happens to have a camera in it.
What if I’m nervous, or I don’t think I’m photogenic?
Honestly? This is the most common thing women say to us, and it’s never once been true in the way they fear. You don’t need to be photogenic. You need to feel safe — and when you do, something softens, and it shows. Clients are so often surprised by how natural they look, because for once they weren’t bracing themselves.
I’m nervous about being photographed by a man — how does that work?
A fair thing to ask, and you’re far from the only one. Darren’s approach is calm and deeply respectful, and I’m with you throughout the entire experience. I’m the one demonstrating every pose for you to copy, so you always feel supported and never exposed. When do I see my photos?
The same day — we call it your Reveal. You won’t be sent home to wait and overthink. Instead, you’ll relax with a drink and see your portraits on our big cinematic screen while that grounded, supported feeling is still with you. Then, if you’d like to take some home, we help you choose your favourites calmly at your Design Consultation. There’s never any pressure to buy anything.
How much does it cost?
We believe in being open about this. Your experience fee is £250, which covers the guided studio experience itself and, for boudoir, your hair and make-up.
Any artwork you’d like to keep is chosen separately, after you’ve seen your portraits — so you’re never guessing what you’ll want before you’ve even seen yourself. Most women invest from £800 with an average of around £2,000, and we offer interest-free payment plans so you can spread the cost comfortably. But there’s genuinely no obligation to order anything: the experience stands on its own.

We’re in a private, dedicated studio in Ystradgynlais, at the top of the Swansea Valley — an easy drive from Swansea, Neath, Carmarthen and the surrounding valleys, and women travel to us from as far as Cardiff, Bristol and Cheltenham. Coming to us means a calm, controlled space where privacy and comfort come first — no weather, no crowds, no unfamiliar locations.
