Marks of Strength

"You're still you, and you deserve to see her."

Breast cancer can change your body, your routines and how you feel when you catch your reflection. This is a calm, private experience where you're welcomed exactly as you are today, and gently guided back to "I'm me again."

Every October the world turns pink. Your story doesn’t fit into one month.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month does important work, and we’re proud to support it. But what you’ve been through doesn’t end on the 31st of October. The scars, the changes, the tiredness and the quiet moments in the mirror are there all year round.

That’s why this page, and this experience, is here every day of the year. Whether you’re in the middle of treatment, just finished, or years down the line, there’s no “right time.” There’s only the time that feels right for you.

You’ve carried so much. This part is just for you.

You’ve been strong for everyone around you. You’ve sat through appointments, made decisions no one should have to make, and kept going when you were running on empty.

And somewhere along the way, it’s easy to stop feeling like yourself. Maybe your body looks different now. Maybe you’ve lost your hair, your shape or your confidence. Maybe you simply don’t recognise the woman you’ve become.

You’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone. We’ve seen what happens when a woman is given a safe, unhurried space to be seen again, with tenderness instead of judgement.

“All I wanted was to feel pretty. I now don’t feel pretty — I feel incredible!” — Steph

Your Four-Point Plan

1. Relaxed Chat

We start with a relaxed Discovery Call where you can tell us what you’ve been through, how you want to feel, and what would make this experience feel safe for you. No pressure, no sales talk - just a real chat.

2.Transformational Experience

Next comes your Transformational Experience. You’ll be welcomed in, guided gently at your pace, and supported the whole way through, so you can let your guard down and start feeling like you again.

3. Design Consultation

Next is your Design Consultation - the moment you see yourself with fresh eyes and choose what you want to be reminded of daily, so your confidence has somewhere to land.

4.Enjoy and Believe

And then, every day, you walk past your artwork and remember what’s true. You recognise yourself again - confident, powerful, and alive.

Ready to feel like you again? Start with a simple Discovery Call, and we’ll take it one step at a time.

Your experience, your way

Everything about your session is shaped around you, how you feel, and what your body needs on the day.

You’re in control, always. You choose what you wear, what you show and what stays covered. Some women choose to celebrate their scars. Others prefer to keep them private. Both are completely right, and nothing happens without your say-so.

Come as you are. Reconstruction or no reconstruction, one breast or none, prosthesis or not, wig, headscarf or bald, we’ll work with whatever feels most like you. Rhian will talk it all through with you beforehand so there are no surprises.

We go at your pace. If fatigue or treatment side effects mean you need breaks, we take them. If you need to rearrange your date because of an appointment or a tough week, we’ll simply move it. No fuss.

It’s private. Your images are never shared without your explicit permission. Your story stays yours.

Personalised guidance

Once you’ve booked, I (Rhian) will work with you on outfits and styling that feel comfortable and beautiful on your body as it is now. We’ll think about fabrics that are kind to sensitive skin, pieces that frame scars softly or proudly, and options that work around ports, drains or lymphoedema sleeves if you need them.

Looking ahead to your day

Feeling nervous is completely natural. When you arrive, we’ll welcome you with a cuppa (or something a little stronger) and a relaxed chat.

Then Julie will take care of your hair and make-up, from a natural glow to full glam, including styling wigs or scarves if you’d like.

In the studio, I’ll help you with dressing if needed and Darren will guide you gently through every pose. Most women tell us the nerves fade within minutes.

Afterwards, you’ll see your portraits come to life. Many women tell us it’s the first time in a long time they’ve looked at themselves and thought, “There she is.”

Common questions

Can I book while I’m still having treatment?
Yes. Many women do. We’ll plan around your treatment schedule and energy levels, and we’re always happy to move your date if needed.

Do I have to show my scars?
Not at all. You decide what’s shown and what isn’t. We’ll talk it through before your session so you feel completely at ease.

I’ve lost my hair. Is that OK?
Absolutely. Come with a wig, a scarf, or neither. Julie can help style whichever you choose, and many women find the bare-headed portraits among their most powerful.

How soon after surgery can I come in?
Every recovery is different, so we’d suggest checking with your medical team first. Once you feel ready, we’ll be ready too.
